FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
CAN I PLAY ON THE TEAM?
Our team is open to any current UMN students who meet the following requirements: Undergraduates with at least 12 credits and above 1.65 GPA and Graduate students with at least 6 credits and above a 1.65 GPA. All team members are selected at the beginning of each season via tryouts.
WHEN ARE TRYOUTS?
Tryouts are set this year for August 14-17, and there is an additional supplemental tryout in early September (exact date and time TBD). We highly recommend attending the week long August tryout if possible as this is when we select most of the team (lodging options are available, please reach out to our club if this is an issue). HOW MANY PLAYERS ARE ON THE TEAM?
We have two teams that each carry about a 23 person roster throughout the season. Our max roster is 25 players per team and selection is determined by the coaching staff.
WHERE ARE GAMES PLAYED?
All of our home games are played at the URW complex on the University of Minnesota Campus. We also have three out of state tournaments per year which consists of a regional qualifier in Iowa, the regional tournament in Colorado, and national tournament in a southern state.
WHAT LEAGUE DOES THE CLUB PLAY IN?
UMN club soccer competes in the NIRSA collegiate division, where we play against other club teams of schools across the country. The region which UMN competes in, NIRSA region V, contains members from Minnesota, Iowa, Nebraska, the Dakotas, Colorado, and Arizona. Within this region, Minnesota competes in the divisional league Midwest Collegiate Soccer League (MWCSL), featuring other schools from Minnesota, Iowa, and Nebraska.
