MIKE SWENSON
Head Coach - Gold
Mike Swenson leads the Gold squad for Minnesota, having been leading Maroon since 2016 prior to taking the reigns as Gold's head coach in 2023. Under his guidance, both Gold and Maroon have had sustained success, winning the national open tournament with Gold in 2024, and cementing Maroon as a top regional competitor over several schools top club teams. A former Gopher himself, Swenson led the club team in scoring his senior year before taking over as coach the following season.
IAN YUNIS
Head Coach - Maroon
Ian Yunis joined the Gophers in a coaching role following his 2023 graduation from the University of Minnesota. Yunis was a longtime presence in Minnesota soccer, locking down the rightback spot for several seasons on some star-studded Gopher squads. Yunis brings defensive nous and grit to a young Maroon squad.
AVERY LARSSON
Assistant Coach - Gold
Avery Larsson joined the Gopher coaching staff as a newcomer upon his graduation from the University of Minnesota in 2023. During his time at the Gophers, he was a stalwart center mid and cemented himself as a key player on some of the Gophers best ever teams, including the 2023 National runner-ups.
CHARLIE NAZARIAN
Assistant Coach - Maroon
Charlie Nazarian joined as a new assistant coach for the 2024 season. Graduating from the Gophers in 2024, Nazarian was a strong leader on the backline for several seasons with a strong Maroon side. Nazarian possesses a sharp defensive instinct and tactical knowledge to pass on to Maroon.
